For Referring Veterinarians
How do I schedule surgery with Lonestar?
The first step is always to get in contact with us - we respond to phone calls, texts, and emails. If you have a particular doctor in mind you can contact them directly (see Our Team or Contact pages) or send general inquiries to info@lonestarsurg.net. Please include the patient's signalment, weight, and BCS, as well as any relevant history, labs/rads, etc. so we can make our best recommendations for your case!
Is there a list of prices for your common procedures?
Yes! Just let us know and we can send you our current price sheet.
How does payment work? Do you charge the owner?
Prior to surgery we will provide you with an estimate for the cost of the expected procedure(s), but we do not discuss our costs with owners directly. Since we contract our services with your clinic, we will send you an invoice at the time of surgery, and you can pay with check or online. Owners still make their payments directly to you for any surgical services we provide, like they would for any normal procedure.
Is there a cancellation fee?
We confirm our scheduled surgeries 72 hours in advance - if a surgery is cancelled after it has been confirmed with our team, there is a $250 fee, or $500 for a TPLO. Every clinic has their own policies and procedures, but we recommend your clients make a deposit with you when scheduling a surgery with Lonestar that would cover that fee. We also understand that life happens, so if you have any questions please let us know!
For Pet Owners
What should I expect on surgery day?
Your pet will be admitted to your primary veterinarian's office as usual. Our mobile surgical team arrives to perform the procedure in their facility. After a stable recovery, your primary vet will contact you for pickup.
How are anesthesia and pain managed?
Your pets' safety is our priority. We work with your veterinarian to determine the best anesthetic protocols and multi-modal pain management tailored to your pet's specific health needs and the procedure being performed.
Where can I find post-op instructions?
Comprehensive post-operative recovery guides, general information, and discharge forms are all available for download in our dedicated Document Library.
How can I schedule my pet’s procedure with Lonestar? What if I have questions before/after surgery?
Talk to your veterinarian, and they can contact us directly about scheduling your pet’s procedure at their clinic. Your pet’s regular veterinarian is going to be the best resource for any questions you may have about the surgery itself, or any specific questions before or after their procedure. We work closely with all our referring veterinarians in both pre- and post-operative periods, but if you’re not comfortable addressing a specific issue with your primary care veterinarian, feel free to reach out to us directly.
